What an amazing week! We not only celebrated Chinese New Year on Monday but we also got to have an FANTASTIC party on friday celebrating Valentine's Day!!! Thank you to all of the parents who were able to help make this a very special celebration for our kiddos! A big thank you to our party parent Afrin for organizing us all and making sure our party was a success! We couldn't do it without you! I've attached some pictures of our class during the party .
This week we have continued to focus on subtraction in math and have been learning and utilizing different strategies to show or verify our work including drawing pictures, using a number path, and using tally marks. Kindergarteners are expected to be fluent in addition and subtraction within 5 at the end of the school year. Most of our class is working on being fluent within 10 and beyond.
We are jumping in to our next unit of inquiry, Where We Are in Place and Time. We will be exploring 'Homes' in this unit. Building homes, comparing homes in present time and long ago, and sharing our ideas of what makes a home. Next week we will spend much of our time designing and building homes in class. If you happen to have any scrap materials such as cardboard or sticks we would be greatly appreciative to have you add those supplies to our classroom materials.
Conferences are coming up! If you have not done so already please sign up for a time to confer with me in two weeks!
